In May 2007 the Provincial Council [Diputación Foral] of Biscay and the University of the Basque Country signed a agreement to collaborate in creating a Documentation Centre of the Economic Agreement and the Foral Treasuries.

The aim is to organise a Documentation Service and Centre within the Department of Contemporary History of the University of the Basque Country involving the Department's Research Group GIU 05/16. It will make available to the institutions, the academic world, professionals and the general public the information generated in the past, present and future by the Economic Agreement and the Foral Treasuries. This information platform will not only serve researchers but all of those interested in the economic system of the Basque Country, since it also aims to collaborate with any interested institution in popularising the system of the Economic Agreement.

The Centre will be formed not only as a receiver and distributor of information but also as a generator of knowledge, since it intends to organise periodical scientific meetings and to publish the materials arising from these. In addition, continuing the existing collaboration between the University of the Basque Country and the Provincial Council of Biscay, it will publish the collection Clásicos de la Hacienda Foral [Classics of the Foral Treasury]. The Centre intends to be a source of information on novelties concerning tax and a meeting place for those interested in the Economic Agreement and all related subjects, its history and its present reality.
